PROCESS of the Assignment

 

1. Select your field experience school and collection focus

2. Print of field experience sheet and get teacher librarian and principal signatures for project

3. Decide the collection focus with teacher librarian

4. Allocate a budget-- Washington Learns suggest $20 per student for elementary and middle school and $25 per student high school. Find the number and figure out the total budget

5. Use no more than 10% of the budget for this improvement

6. Use the textbook , particularly Tool 6 , Tool 8, Tool 10 to accompany your task

7. Prepare a presentation for March 22-- it can be powerpoint or web page or alternative approved by Nadean

a. Determining factors- local, curriculum, state, learner-centered

b. Collection analysis- process, summary, tools used

c. Process of selection- justification of 10% of budget

d. How to include stakeholders

e. Writing a need for additional funding or outside funding

8. Field experience form must be returned to Nadean by the last week of class before Thursday night

9. You need to turn in copies of anything given to your field teacher librarian and a one page reflection paper on this experience and how you would apply it to your own school library in the future.

    Pamela Timmer:Although I haven't checked with our librarian, with the new state CBA's for Washington State such a hot topic, I am going to focus in this area. I had originally thought I might look at the new Health and Fitness area, but the guidelines do not lend themselves to library usage. I am very surprised at the state CBA's in this area.
    Karen Waggoner:I was trying to Log in to the Sagebrush site so I could see how it works, but was unable to. Have any of you been able to do this. It just comes up that it is not available. Sunlink is not of help to me, because my section is on Washington State History. It was interesting an interesting site.
    JoAnn:Amanda, that is a tough one, I am glad it is you and not me. I would like to work on my biograghy section, 920 and 921. I have ran one report that shows how often the books are checked out, and have been using that as my starting point. I feel sorry for the unpoopular presidents. Fillmore and Harrison haven't left the shelf for quite some time. By the way did anyone see the great Zag game tonight. I had to stop doing homework to watch the end!!
